Every website argument ends the same way: someone senior guesses. User research replaces the guessing with witnesses: recordings of real visitors hesitating, heatmaps of what gets ignored, polls catching people mid-decision, interviews where customers explain what the analytics could only imply. The deliverable is not data; it is the friction map that tells your roadmap where to aim.
The methods and what each one sees
Recordings show behavior: the rage clicks, the backtracking, the form field where thumbs surrender. Heatmaps show attention: the proof nobody scrolls to, the dead button everyone tries. On-site surveys catch intent in the moment: what almost stopped you today. Interviews and tests explain the why underneath all of it. Alone each is partial; synthesized, they convict.
What we handle
- Research setup: recording, heatmap and survey instrumentation with sampling and privacy configured properly
- Structured session analysis: recordings coded by friction pattern, not binge-watched for anecdotes
- Voice-of-customer mining: survey verbatims and support logs clustered into the language buyers actually use
- Moderated and unmoderated testing: real tasks attempted on your real pages, failures documented
- The friction dossier: findings synthesized, sized by revenue at stake, and translated into a prioritized change list
- Continuous research rhythm, because sites change and last year’s evidence expires
Our approach
Hypothesis-led, pattern-coded, ruthlessly synthesized: watching a hundred sessions randomly is entertainment; coding thirty against a friction framework is evidence. Every finding ships with its clip, its quote and its number, so the meeting where changes get approved is short.
How is this different from just reading our analytics?
Analytics say where people leave; research shows why they left, in their own behavior and words. The pairing is the power: quantitative locates the wound, qualitative diagnoses it.
How many sessions or responses are enough?
Patterns stabilize fast: a few dozen coded sessions per key journey and a few hundred survey responses usually surface the dominant frictions. We sample to saturation, not to vanity volume.
Findings arm Landing Page Optimization and Form Optimization, seed A/B Testing pipelines, and ground Personalization in reality.
