What Is an Entity Home in SEO?

July 10, 2026 · Ajay Kumar

An entity home is the single page on your website that search engines and AI models treat as the authoritative source of truth about your brand: usually your About page or homepage, reinforced with Organization schema and referenced consistently by every profile and mention of you across the web. It is where machines go to answer the question: what exactly is this entity?

Why machines need one address for you

Google’s Knowledge Graph and every LLM build their picture of your brand from scattered evidence: your site, directories, press, profiles. Without a designated home, the evidence stays scattered and confidence stays low: hedged descriptions, confusion with similar names, missing knowledge panels. A strong entity home gives all that evidence one place to point, and certainty is what machines reward.

What belongs on the entity home

The facts machines most often get wrong, stated plainly: legal and brand name, what the business does in one clear sentence, founding year, location, leadership, core services or products, and notable proof points. Written as reference material, not marketing prose: a machine should be able to extract every fact without interpretation.

The wiring that makes it official

Organization schema on the page declaring those same facts, with a sameAs array linking your verified profiles: LinkedIn, key directories, social accounts, Wikidata if you have it. Then the reciprocal layer: those external profiles linking back to this exact URL, and your other pages referencing it internally. The loop, site claims plus external corroboration pointing home, is what promotes claims into knowledge.

Common failures to avoid

Three different About-ish pages splitting the signal. Schema facts contradicting on-page text. Profiles linking to the homepage while schema nominates /about/. Rebrands that leave half the web pointing at the old identity. Consistency is the entire mechanism; every contradiction is a confidence tax.

Should the entity home be my homepage or About page?

Either works if you commit: homepages suit single-brand companies; About pages suit brands whose homepage churns with campaigns. Pick one, declare it in schema, and align every signal to it.

How do I know it is working?

Watch how Google’s panel and AI assistants describe you over a quarter: sharper facts, fewer hedges, correct details. Interrogate the models monthly and keep receipts.
